To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Chris Maser for approximately six years. During this period of time, I have had the pleasure of listening to several of Chris's presentations concerning ecosystem management and bio-diversity conservation. I have also read Chris 's books on sustainable development. Chris is an excellent communicator; his is very knowledgeable about Ecosystem Management, Sustainability, and Sustainable Development.

Chris recently conducted a workshop on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forests involving both the public and forest service employees. This workshop was the official beginning of our forest resources land management plan revision, which includes the Northern Sierra Amendment Process. The workshop was a great success as evidenced by the number of positive comments we received from a very diverse participating public, as well as forest service employees. Chris is an excellent scientist, communicator, and author of international reputation. His values are deeply embedded in in both the well being of the land of those who utilize the resources from the land.

I highly recommend Chris Maser and would not hesitate to hire him as a dispute resolution mediator or for educational endeavors.

Sincerely,

R.M. "Jim" Nelson
