A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY FOR ZANE MASER

While growing up in Reno, Nevada, I was richly exposed to metaphysical subjects and astrology from an early age, which tapped into my own deep spiritual inclinations. My mother delved into quite a range of topics, from Edgar Cayce; Manly P. Hall; the Theosopist's writings of Blavatsky and Leadbeater, to name a few; all things psychological, especially the works of Carl Jung; the "blue" books of Alice Bailey, as the Master D.K.'s (or the "Tibetan's") scribe; and the growing field of astrology. My mom, self-taught, began doing astrological charts for individuals and teaching astrology classes while she was in her 40's .

My love of nature and animals was the determining factor for the choice of a major when I attended the University of Nevada in Reno in the early 70's. Actually, during my first two semesters I majored in accounting, which was a fit for the highly detailed and careful side of my nature, but not a match for that part of me drawn towards healing and spiritual work. I graduated with a B.S. in Wildlife Biology. Chris and me

In retrospect, I realize this degree was the lovely avenue that enabled me to meet my husband, Chris, then a renowned ecologist and mammalogist. (You might find exploring his website an educational treat.) I worked as a research assistant at Oregon State University investigating the hypogeous fungal diet of a number of small mammals, which resulted in the publication of several research papers, as well as a spore key to assist other researchers worldwide.

In the mid-80's, I returned to school at OSU in Corvallis, Oregon, where I received a M.S. in Counseling, with a minor in religious studies. One of my primary interests at that time was hospice and grief counseling. I facilitated a grief support group at Nathan Adelson Hospice, while we lived in Las Vegas, NV, and then worked at two hospices when we moved back to Corvallis.

Also during this same era, I was introduced to my first White Eagle book on the subjects of health, healing, yoga, and astrology (a book written by Joan Hodgson, founder of The White Eagle School of Astrology. I felt a deep inner resonance with White Eagle's gentle, heart-centered teachings and truly felt like I had "found home" and my spiritual Teacher for this lifetime. I became involved with the spiritual healing work (and later with the Brotherhood work) of the White Eagle Lodge that had originated in England in the 1930s by Grace and Ivan Cooke. I currently help Denise Badmington with the animal healing correspondence for the The White Eagle Lodge in the Americas in Montgomery, Texas. In this capacity, I am doubly blessed to indulge both my love of animals and healing. Sketty

As the millennium was about to turn over to 2000, my timing finally clicked into place, and I found the inner discipline, focus, and commitment to actively pursue my life-long interest in astrology. I enrolled in the Beginner's Course of The White Eagle School of Astrology in the early 1990s. It only took me a decade to receive my diploma, but I graduated with Distinction! I went on to obtain my diploma in Advanced Studies of Astrology from the school in 2003. Astrologer, Marilyn Neuner, from Portland, OR, told me "astrology has its own timing" and that I finished when I was meant to according to my own inner timetable, which I did. Bodi

As I began to practice astrology professionally, I discovered that I have an intense interest in and love for the branch of astrology known as Horary. It is the ancient art of obtaining precise answers to clearly conceived questions of importance. Horary works because it is clear, accurate, and explicit. It is no wonder that the practice of horary astrology was the most prevalent form of astrology for centuries. It is the root or foundation of our modern astrology; therefore, a clear understanding of "traditional" or medieval astrology, thus a proficiency in horary judgment, is an invaluable training for a working astrologer.

In 2006, I enrolled in the Qualifying Horary Practitioner course in the UK. Olivia Barclay, the author of "Horary Astrology Rediscovered," created this course in 1984. Hers is the original, modern-day course to teach the traditional methods practiced by the famous 17th-century astrologer, William Lilly, considered today to be the greatest master of horary technique and practice. In April of 2007, I received my diploma as a Qualified Horary Practitioner-QHP. If you would like a question to be addressed through casting a horary chart, please go to my "Astrological Services" section to email me.

I have written a number of articles on astrology and personal growth that have been published in the various Journals of the White Eagle Lodge:  Stella Polaris (The Journal of the White Eagle Lodge, New Lands, England), The Drumbeat (The White Eagle Lodge, Canada), and Altair (The Journal of the White Eagle School of Astrology).
